New Paintings That Smile Back At You
Quietly encouraging art pieces for when our homes are quieter, and our minds are still busy.
Our homes may hold less movement than they once did. The frantic seasons are shifting into a quieter pace. As our children move out (and then move back in again), our lives become our own—and it takes some getting used to.
These paintings and prints tell that story.
They are here to remind us that quiet is okay, that new stories unfold in their own time, and that solace is found in doing the things we love. I made these new paintings to gently remind us that those moments are always waiting for us.
Much love, Sam x
Selected Works From The Art Print Shop
‘Downward Dog with Ducks’
A gentle reminder that movement takes the thoughts out of our heads and into bodily energy.
‘Telly Time’
Rest is good, really good for us. A dose of telly hits the spot, especially if something is on that we love.
A firm believer that art is for everyone, Sam writes, “Art is not a gift for the few, but a joy for all.” Through her art and her open sharing of creative knowledge, she encourages others to rediscover the simple, human pleasures found in creative making.

When I was young, the world made sense to me when I drew it on paper, and I never stopped.
I studied at Edinburgh College of Art, leaving in the early 90s, falling into jobs to make the rent and enjoy the big city. One day, I fell over and broke my arm. This gave me time at home to work in my bedroom - and thus the much-needed shove to get on with my career in making and selling work.
I’m inspired by life going on around me, people, places, moments of joy, moments of quiet that we sometimes enjoy, other times endure.
I make work that connects us, work with a never-ending wish to uplift our spirits.
