Britains Top 100 Dogs for 2019. ipaintdogs.com

Yesterday I gave myself a lovely 150 minutes on the sofa, notebook in one hand & bottomless cup of tea in the other.

Just Barney & I watched Britain’s Top 100 Dogs. Sheer bliss.

Ben Fogle & Sarah Cox ran through our nation’s best furry friends.  There were some surprises - who knew that our VERY favourite woofer is the one that is the hardest to rehome?  Read on dear hearts, read on…

If you are considering gaining a new member of your family, do make sure to do your research first.

1 STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIER!!!  (Well done the Staffie!)

Hooray for the Staffie!  This dog has suffered so much labelling in the past, most of which is unfair and biast.

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier suffers for its negative press, sadly their stay in the rehoming centres up and down the country are the longest.

Hopefully it new status as Britain’s Top Dog, as chosen by over 10,000 participants will see them out of the centres and into loving homes faster.

Think rehoming dear hearts, please.

Does Your Dog Do Silly Things?

I absolutely love to see dogs doing silly things but sometimes they are just not silly enough - to counteract this, I'm going all out silly woofers in a new collection of paintings I'm working on.

As I am sure you have recognised now, I'm a bit in love with my own dog, Barney and pretty much everyone else's too.      I've always loved them, they just make me so happy.

With this in mind and from all the studying I have been doing for my bespoke dog portraits (www.ipaintdogs.com) I'm going to go doggier crazy and mix them into my paintings.  Dog Groomers, Elvis Dogs, Dogs on a day out - all are in the planning stage but for now, I thought I'd show you some of the paintings I've just finished - you can see them under 'Fun Dog Paintings'.

Am utterly delighted to report that they are going down a storm.

Woof!  Sam x

Self-Labeling. Let's Biff One Together.

Last Friday I did something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time.  I delivered a 4hr free Art Marketing Workshop to 10 friends all of whom have creative businesses.  Boy, was I nervous but as Farrah Storr writes in her new book The Discomfort Zone - don’t be nervous, be excited. This post is all about Self-Labeling. Those things that we tell ourselves that we are crap at - let’s biff one of those thoughts together.

Brexit Blues - A Creative Antidote. FREE DRAWING ACTIVITY

Friends, confusion is rife, it’s January and frankly it’s all a bit shit.  Forgive the swearing but it’s uncertainty is not our friend in the short term.  So, my post here is about bringing our own personal world a little bit closer, drawing your emotional curtains and having some time out to do something you might not usually do.

Monkey See, Monkey Do.  Helping Our Teenagers to Keep Creative.

Teenagers and drawing, it all begins to drop off at this age.  The freedom our children once enjoyed via exploratory drawing begins to wane about 10 – 12yrs old, it’s natural but it’s also a shame.  Is your teenager still creating?  If not, here are some tips to stimulate them into action.

Is The Word 'Niche' Better Named 'Your Style'?

This coming Sunday, I’m going to be at Top Drawer interviewing an exhibitor from the ‘Spotted Sector’.  It’s a half-hour slot where I’ll be talking with one of the exhibitors and finding out about her work story. The questions I’ll be asking are: How do you decide on a niche? Is it possible to combine all your passions into one brand and be successful? This post gives my thoughts on both, pre interview.

The Benefits of Leaving The Capsule. Downing Tools & Doing It.

This morning I took my dog for a walk over Suffolk Heath, a place close to my heart.  After school holidays and winter bugs have dictated life indoors for a number of weeks, getting outside ALONE is precious.  This post is all about the benefits of downing tools and getting outside for 30 mins.
