Below is a sneak-peak of my new 'Historical Figures' Collection, for early teens coming soon..enjoy x
So how is your 2016 going? The sun cometh dear clients, I promise!
It’s been a busy winter. I’ve been teaching a lot which I’ve really enjoyed. Teaching privately in my studio, The Art Retreat and at schools and colleges too, including Ipswich High School, Kyson Primary School and soon to be Farlingaye High School too. I find that teaching art gives me all sorts of gumption and idea’s for getting back into the studio and making new works and collections.
I’ve been working hard at my gorgeous printmaking press, making small editions of drawings of animals and, I’ve been going back to basics using my old scratch-pen and indian ink, making a new collection of ‘Historical Figures’ which I’ll be bringing you soon.
I’m delighted to be working with galleries again too. Vanil in Woodbridge, Snape Maltings on the Suffolk Coast, Green Gallery in Buchlyvie, & Kindred & Kind in Renishall Hall, Derbyshire have all been keen to receive my new collections, and it’s great to be showing around the country again. I’ve invested much time in my website too, and my NotonTheHighSt.com page keeps bringing in the sales too, with 2016 exceeding all sales from 2015 already – wonderful.
There’s much excitement going on over here including new dates for my ‘Drink & Draw’ evening events in my studio (which are always a blast) as well as an ‘Introduction to Mono-Printing’ workshop that I’m running with Suffolk Leisure Learning on the 27th February. It’s lovely to see my studio coming back into life, as it does in the summer with events & workshops and of course Summer Openings.
I have some NEW Art Workshops coming up in my gorgeous studio here in Woodbridge, Suffolk. Come & join me! Great fun, Suitable for ALL LEVELS & affordable too.. See below and book soon as we have only 8 SPACES PER WORKSHOP.....
****DULWICH FESTIVAL MAY 2016****
I've got some boiling hot news too just confirmed over the past day or two... I'm really delighted to be the solo artist exhibiting in the wonderful 'Pavillion Cafe' Dulwich Park, for the whole month of May, as part of the very successfulDulwich Festival. This is so exciting as I know the cafe very very well having bought my own children up in it practically!
My work will be on show throughout the whole month and I think I'm going to be in situ, live painting for the first and second weekends. May 7/8th & May 14/15th. More details to follow but I can't wait!
That's it for now, other than to send love and urge you to get your sketchbooks out! Go on, it'll be so good for you!
Ps, Those lovely folks at Suffolk Magazine have written a rather lovely feature on The Art Retreat (& me) for their April edition, coming on March 18th. Sam x
