You Have 90 Mins Until You Pick Up the Children. Is that Enough Time To Pick Up Your Art Materials? (You Bet It Is….)

Time is both our friend - and our foe. We are almost always on the go.

When we picture ourselves engaging in art - we might envisage ourselves on holiday - already relaxed. Or perhaps we might want to work in an empty house with all our chores done and dusted….. Then we might think about taking out our art materials and getting going.

Let’s dig a little deeper into this.

I think what we are actually saying here is “once everything is in place, I can relax enough to do something I want to do”.

I get it fully. It’s easy to think that once this, this, and this is done, then I’ll be ready to relax and enjoy some me-time.

So how often do we get there?

Not often.

How about we look at this the other way around?

We know that a relaxed and calm individual makes us happier humans. This knock-on effect is enormous, for our children, wider family around us and of course, workmates.

I’m going to suggest that you do the necessary to keep you feeling that the house, work, chores are ‘good enough’ and not perfect, this way you get to claim a precious hour in which you can do something creative - just for you.

What that creative thing doesn’t matter; we can come to that bit later.

For now, I’m all about encouraging you to claim yourself a ‘Wellbeing Hour’ every week. No choirs need joining, no massages to pay for, just an hour a week for you to sit and make with me.

As an idea, how does that feel for you?

Much love
