Delphinium Monoprint on White
Recently, I bought some beautiful Delphinium flowers and drew them through a number of times in different materials.
I love to make monoprints, it’s a process that I forget to use but yields wonderful results once I find my way back to working with it. (You can read about the process below)
This printed-painting is on white. These prints are A3 in paper size (297 x 420mm) printed onto thick cartridge paper

The process of Monoprinting as as follows:
The process is to draw out her image onto a non-porous plate using a water based printing ink.
Once the image is complete, Sam then places her plate onto her printmaking press, placing the printing paper over the top of the image, to then roll the press over both, one or perhaps twice, back and forth.
The image is then transferred onto the paper, left to dry for 24 hrs then placed under heavy boards to straighten for a further 24hrs.
It’s a very manual process, providing an immediacy to drawing, and wonderful marks on the paper from the original drawing.
Each work is classed as an original piece of artwork.
