An Apus is the scientific name for the Common Swift. Flying together in they form beautiful groups called Murmurations.
Did you know that our friend the Swift spends 10 months of the year in flight without touching the ground? 10 months?!
This drawing is a Drypoint Print. Simply put this means that my original drawing has been completed on a zinc or perspex plate, then painted by hand and eventually run through my press on softened damp paper.
From each plate, we can print 12 drawings maximum before the line blurs and is damaged forever.
Each print (or Edition) is an original in itself. They are numbered according to the run from the plate, (eg, 1/12, 2/12, etc) then titled, handsigned and yearly dated.
Please look through the photographs to select your preferred image number. You can see it written in pencil on paper.
Apus is 30 x 30cm and printed on 280 Fabriano Paper.
