Dreaming it into being: Drawing in New York Urban Dog Parks
Yesterday I sent a newsletter out to my mailing list, it was called ‘A Quiet House & A Big Dream’.
I talked about having all the feels in dropping our youngest child at university a couple of weeks ago, about now having a quieter home, and the rekindling of a wish to visit a city I nearly stayed put in forever, some thirty years ago - New York.
I would like to go to New York and draw dogs in some of the brilliant urban dog spaces there.
There, I said it out loud.
I put this in my letter, asking if anyone had any ideas of which parks to visit along with any thoughts and advice and recieved some beautiful letters in return.
One letter in particular stood out to me.
In it, my correspondent told me about her local dog park she visited at least once, sometime twice daily - Washington Square Dog Park Run. She told me that, working locally from home, this park became her ‘Watercooler’ moment for human-to-human (and dog-to-dog) interaction. She absolutely had me at this point.
⭐️ Humans ⭐️ Dogs ⭐️ Community ⭐️ Outdoor Air ⭐️ A Place to be ⭐️ Connection
All my favourite things together in one purposely planned, unmassive space.
In short, I HAVE to go there, and I have to draw there.
I have precisely ZERO idea how this is going to happen as of yet, but I can feel the fire in my belly and a deep wish to make it happen.
Watch this space, beautiful friends
Much love
