I Wrote This Post & The Responses Have Blown Me Away….
Earlier this week I wrote this post on my Instagram page. It felt a little strange to be quite so honest, but my new collection of paintings and art prints deserve the truth behind them. What I hadn’t expected was the beautiful responses. I’ve collected some together, printed them out, and am hanging them on my studio wall.

Until recently, I’ve never felt quite right about painting what’s happening in my life. I’ve always been a straight observational artist; I see it, I love it, I draw or paint it.
My weekend painting course with @nicolaslattery_artist unlocked much for me, Nicola taught me the freedom of bringing imagination into my painting.
That was a year ago now and coupled with painting in oils, a shift has happened, along with the natural changes of being a 55 year old woman.
I’m going to be honest here, I’m not feeling great. Our children are preparing to leave, the dog is getting old and I’m savouring each day of this passing chapter with a sadness I can’t shift.
My paintings above are around this time of life, the need for a bit of quiet and becoming lost in the activities we love. It would be an enormous privilege for these paintings to reach other women feeling similar feels too, gentle reminders that it’s ok to stop and stare a while, and immerse ourselves in that which we love to do, it’s a tonic.
Thank you for reading my most honest post to date.
