Finally, I have my Collection Title. It’s….
Renesting.
Phew, that’s it, job done, I have my name for this collection of works..
Finding the right name for a collection can be the proverbial needle-in-the-haystack. Sometimes, the name finds me as I’m making the paintings, other times, like with my Inkteriors Project of 2022/23 I felt in my bones it was just right.
These latest paintings and art prints have been way harder to come together.
Sitting with my daughter this morning (who is way cleverer than me - I’m more the department of common-sense), we found it together, which is a really nice touch.
I was explaining to her exactly what this group of work is all about.
Change. Healthy, happy, normal change, but change.
Increasing quietness due to the lessening amounts of cta’s (calls-to-action) from our offspring that have been, up to this point, a large part of my life as a mum. Perhaps by having to organise cooking class ingredients with only one evening’s notice (grrr), a phone call to collect one of my children pronto, calls for finding school uniform in a heartbeat, or whizzing forgotten school books to where they need to be, etc., you get the picture. Those days are now done, most noticeably by all now having passed their driving tests.
Years out that turn into comings and goings, university acceptances and general too-and-fro(ing) soon turn into more fro-ing, entirely normal but the hole it leaves is something to be acknowledged, not tucked away.
This is where my title comes in: Renesting.
A conscious connection between where we are in life, our homes, and interests that we now have more time to turn our attentions to.
Oodles of love
