Our first-ever ‘Friendly Sketch Club’ date was Something VERY Special. Here is why…

This morning’s event was life-affirmingly beautiful.

We held our maiden voyage of ‘The Friendly Sketch Club’ along Felixstowe Promenade. We met at 10am and drew our way through 5 pre-planned & timed stops to take in our surroundings with pencils, pens, and paper.

Most of our attendees hadn’t drawn for years, others were artists who needed some accountability to get out and draw. Coffee in hand, sketchbooks on knees, we drew to our hearts’ content, encouraging each other along by way of drawing exercises (for those that wanted to join in on them) and warm words of support.

Some of the feedback included:

➡️ how wonderful it is to get out of our houses and our heads by doing something different.

➡️ how being in a group (all drawing together) felt like being part of something, reducing feelings of ‘being so noticed’ when drawing alone outside

➡️ how wonderful it was to meet new people, with similar interests to one another (this is how friendships can be made)

and we were noticed. Subtly passers-by were so interested in what we were doing. For future events, I might make a little sign about ‘The Friendly Sketch Club’ as I could feel the interest of people who might like to join us in the future.

A beautiful day and ENORMOUS thanks to our participants who kindly gave me permission to share thier photographs in order to encourage YOU to come and join us on further dates.

You know you want to...😉 remember, ZERO ART SKILLS are needed ❤️
