Simple Line, Hard Won.
Wow, it’s so easy to get lost in fripperies.
Fripperies have their place, I love Fripperies - the cherries on the cake but the cake itself? That might need more attention.
I’m talking about drawing, the actual shape and form of the thing I’m working on.
In my recent Monochrome work, all fripperies are stripped away leaving only the bare bones of what I’m drawing.
The drawings and paintings are visual, I’m no abstract girl. The key is to see how much I can take away and still be left with my subject, a bowl, a vase, the simple shapes being the cherry, the icing, and the cake.
Why am I doing this to myself? It’s not comfortable, and I need to earn money from sales too - these are not ‘beautiful artworks’ - I have to trust the process, leap and the net will appear type thing.
Inside I’m jumpy, a bit uncomfortable, but am carrying on.
More soon
